I recently discovered a tradition that some high schools around the country have. Seniors paint their assigned parking space at their high school. Since one of my granddaughters is a senior, I got to enjoy an hour of parking lot art. I was impressed by so much talent.

The variety of ideas was wonderful. Batman, flowers, abstract, landscape and crosses with scripture. One of my favorites messages was Make Heaven Crowded. Some of the students had planned ahead and had a block of four spaces creating a square. This group created a poker table with cards and chips.

Since I love flowers, I’d have to paint one. It would have a dark blue background and the picture you see would be on it. My message would be Notice the Beauty, not the Flaws!

This idea has spread with funny results. Girls at an area Catholic School asked permission to paint their parking spaces. They were denied, but were offered an alternative idea. They could use chalk. The girls agreed and created wonderful designs even though they didn’t last long. Creativity can’t be squashed!

It’s now September and hopefully the heat won’t last much longer. I’m looking forward to all that fall has to offer. What would some of you paint? I’d love to know.
